Always a great time here at this longtime Port Jeff restaurant. Beautiful views and very attentive service. They always go above and beyond and treat you well. My New England clam chowder was very decent, and I enjoyed the baked clams also. The coleslaw was also good, finely shredded which I have never seen before, what a difference. I always look forward to coming here, very community oriented place that gives back to the community. They do a free Thanksgiving for those who are alone, I will always support them for so many reasons.

I don't know why this place doesn't get the love it deserves, but I'll take it because we were seated immediately. This place is a staple of Pt Jefferson. Been here a very long time. I love it. Good seafood, good prices, good view. There's an indoor dining area and an outdoor area too. Semi enclosed when weather is ehh. Drinks are cheap. Water view (although it's through the ferry boarding area if you can look past that) Casual, quick service. If you want to hang and continue to eat or drink they don't rush you

As a long-time patron of The Steam Room, I have fond memories, when the restaurant offered enticing weekday specials. Thursdays were particularly memorable, with a promotion of "buy one lobster, get one free." While such a generous offer proved understandably unsustainable over time, the quality of the food has remained a constant highlight. On this recent visit, the experience did not disappoint. The shrimp was impeccably fresh, as were the calamari and lobster roll, which all delivered fresh flavors that satisfied the palate. The fries were well-seasoned, striking a perfect balance without being overly salty. The Caesar salad was refreshingly crisp and flavorful, and the corn on the cob was a nostalgic treat, hinting at the same simple pleasures that draw me back time and time again. Beyond the food, the service was truly exceptional, adding to the overall warmth and charm of the dining experience. I eagerly anticipate returning in the future to relive the enjoyment of this reliable coastal gem.

Have always loved the steam room even as a kid, think at least 20 years! The nice part is that you're not gonna find fresh oysters for these prices anywhere. Usually we get lobster dinner, crab legs, oysters, clams on the half shell and on occasion the soft shell crab sandwich. Everything is generally very fresh. Our crab legs were a little over done this time around, but one or two times out of a lot of visits, I'll take it. They now have table service, which we don't really like. The whole point and one of the benefits is the cafeteria style experience, it's fun and messy. Also nice that you could just order whatever whenever and not have to wait for a server- or pay extra for one for that matter. Also to note, just bc they have table service doesn't mean this is first date food- unless you're very comfortable! We'll usually get a pitcher or two of beer as well. I can't say that this place is "bad" or has "gone downhill" but it has changed. My guess is catering to a different clientele or maybe they had some issues with people just sort of camping out at the tables and they were losing business because of it. You're legit right there on the water. The ferry docks right in front of the place, so it's always a great view to enjoy your food to. Overall it is fun to go to, nice to be outside and get good seafood at a fair price. Just know that this isn't five star dining, and don't have that type of expectation and you'll be fine

The steam room is a must place to eat . It's nothing fancy , you can literally wear anything the ambiance is simple but beachy in a way however the food is fantastic! My husband and I ordered the calamari as an appetizer, then we each ordered the Alaskan King Crab legs which are usually $30 but they were on special for $20 can't even believe how cheap they were for how much food you get , we also ordered 1 beer, I soda and the rice pilaf , 2 corns and coleslaw as sides . It was all great , the service was really good . Our waiter as well as I'm assuming the manger came over several times to ask how we were doing , always had a smile on their faces . The check came out and let me tell you it was under $80 for two people that was one of the cheapest dinners we have had in a long time . The food and price were so good I would definitely come back here any day! Parking is a bit hard there's plenty of parking areas around but you need to circle a few times to find a spot.

My friend and I had lobster rolls. Delicious! Not as great as the ones I have had in cape cod, Massachusetts, but this will do! The lobster is real, not synthetic like other places serve. Came out to $22 per lobster roll which is average price. Love walking around port Jeff. It's such a nice area particularly in the summertime. This place is dog friendly too!! And there is a dog beach not too far away.
